Biewer Terrier

This small, charming dog is so similar to a normal Yorkie and at the same time, it has an unusual, bright tricolor color. It is called the white Yorkshire terrier, but, according to the standard, the correct name of the breed is “Biewer”.

• The first puppy of this breed appeared in 1984 in Germany, in the town of Hunsruck, in the family of German breeders Werner and Gertrude Beaver.

Standard Information

Biver York is a small, proportionally folded and graceful dog with long, falling straight hair, parting along the top line from the head to the base of the tail. He is active, cheerful, cheerful and incredibly affectionate, but at the same time, he has a strong balanced temperament and a truly “terrier” character. Growth is desirable up to 22 cm at the withers, for example, up to 27 cm. Weight from 2 to 3.1 kg, for bitches, allowed weight up to 3.6 kg.

The head

1. The head of the beaver is small, proportional to the body, with a flat skull and not too long muzzle, not convex and not coarse.
2. The neck is long, graceful, with a good yield.
3. The eyes are medium in size, set straight, with a clever, slightly tricky expression. Dark, shiny, not convex. Biver’s eyelids are black.
4. The ears are erect, triangular, small, set high and narrowly spaced.
5. The nose is as described in the Biewer Yorkie black breed. Scissor bite, although the standard is allowed and straight. The absence of two premolars is also possible.

The Body

1. Forelegs straight, parallel, covered with thick abundant hair. Withers short, mild, formed by wide shoulder blades with the correct slope.
2. The biewer’s hind limbs are straight and muscular, with well-defined corners of the hock joints.
3. Hocks are low, thighs and legs are equal in length, knee joints are strong.
4. Paws are rounded with black or light claws. The body is compact, the top line is flat.
5. The ribs are arched, rather long. The rib cage reaches the elbow joints, a little forward in front. Tail set high, not docked, covered with abundant hair.

The Wool

1. Wool is very long, on the body it falls to the ground, straight, shiny and silky.
2. On the head, the following options are permissible: white-blue-golden or white-black-golden, with a symmetrical arrangement of white and colored spots.
3. On the body of the dog, only combinations of black-white or cyan-white colors are allowed, as well as completely black or entirely blue with white jabot. The chest, abdomen, fore and hind limbs are white, from the chest white color rise on the neck and chin.

1. Like all other terriers, they are agile, playful and active.

Health and care

• The beaver has long hair that requires careful care.
• It is necessary to monitor the condition of the ears and teeth. Ears should be cleaned regularly, and tartar should be removed from the teeth every six months.
• Claws need to be cut from time to time.
• Walk with a Biewer at least twice a day, and walking your pet better on a leash.
• Feeding: meat (beef, veal or chicken) must be boiled. Cereals (everything except oatmeal). Vegetables: all except potatoes.
